Growing Into What Birth From Within Is Becoming
This week has been one of those weeks where I’ve stopped and realised just how much is happening at Birth From Within.
There has been a LOT of planning, organising and preparation for the Bay Baby Event, and I’m really excited to be there on Saturday. I’ll be talking about Birth From Within, meeting women and families, and sharing more about the classes, workshops and support that I offer.
And then there’s the Red Tent.
Our first Red Tent is this week and it is FULL.
I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.
When I imagined creating Birth From Within, I wanted it to be about so much more than antenatal education. I wanted to create a space where women could come together, be supported, learn, talk honestly, heal, laugh, question things and reconnect with themselves and each other.
Seeing women respond to the Red Tent in the way they have feels incredibly special.
The bits of running a business nobody talks about…
There has also been rather a lot of admin this week. Anyone who knows me will know that admin is not exactly where I come alive! But I got through it. With patience, perseverance and a little help from the tools available to me, I sorted things that have been hanging over me and came out the other side.
It actually made me realise something important about the future of Birth From Within. I would love to grow this business to the point where I can have somebody taking care of more of the administration, systems and some of the social-media work, freeing me to spend more of my time doing what I actually created Birth From Within to do:
Being with women.
Teaching. Supporting. Listening. Sitting beside women as they discover their own strength. Being at births. Creating community. That is where my energy belongs.
Watching change happen
My hypnosis work has brought another really rewarding moment this week.
One of my clients has now completed her course of sessions, and seeing the changes she has made and the things she has achieved has been incredible. There is something quite extraordinary about watching somebody begin to see themselves differently and then watching that change ripple out into their life.
I’ve also had conversations with potential new birth clients, which always makes my heart sing. As much as Birth From Within has grown into classes, workshops, support groups, hypnosis, community and so much more, being alongside women at birth remains one of the things I absolutely love.
Learning, questioning and growing
There has also been lots of reading and research this week around birth, evidence and the way maternity care is delivered.
Some of it is heavy. But I think these conversations matter. The more I learn, the more passionate I become about helping women understand their bodies, understand their choices and feel confident asking questions.
Birth preparation shouldn't simply be about preparing women to fit into a system.
For me, it is about helping women understand physiology, recognise their options, develop discernment and ultimately feel that their birth belongs to them.
And sometimes, life happens alongside the business
This coming week has a slightly different feeling. There has been a bereavement in my family and I will be travelling back to my hometown for the funeral. It will mean reconnecting with family and old friends in circumstances I wish were very different, and navigating some things that I know may be challenging.
It is also a reminder that while we're building businesses, making plans and rushing from one thing to another, life continues to happen around us. Perhaps that's another reason I've appreciated some quieter moments this week.
I've been working more with my doTERRA oils and have found so much joy in them — moments of calm, healing and clarity when I've needed them. I've now signed up for further training so I can deepen that knowledge and explore more ways of incorporating the oils into the work I do.
A big week ahead
So this week feels rather full.
A funeral.
Family.
The first full Red Tent.
The Bay Baby Event.
Potential new birth work.
New learning.
And several exciting opportunities bubbling away behind the scenes for Birth From Within.
There is a lot happening, but underneath all of it I can feel something taking shape.
Birth From Within is becoming more than I originally imagined.
Not simply antenatal classes.
Not simply birth support.
But a community and a space where women can come back to themselves — through pregnancy, birth, motherhood and beyond.
And THAT is something I'm incredibly excited to keep building.
If you'd like to discover Birth From Within for yourself, come and say hello at the Bay Baby Event this Saturday, or get in touch to find out about my antenatal classes, workshops, birth support, hypnosis, women's circles and other support available through the studio.
There is always a space for you here. ❤️
