Changes
11th February 2025:
Wow, what a start to the new year! I’ve been busy getting ready for the upcoming workshops and courses, applying for funding, and diving into digital media, something that, if you know me, is definitely not my strong suit. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum? I’ve got that covered. But put me in front of a computer, and it’s a whole different story. What takes some people minutes can take me hours, usually with a few sighs, groans, and the occasional colorful word thrown in!
But here’s the thing, I keep going. And bit by bit, it’s paying off. I’ve built this website, created posters, set up a Google page, and so much more. Learning these new skills and growing Birth From Within has got me thinking a lot about change, how we deal with it and why it can feel so overwhelming.
Pregnancy is one of the biggest transformations we go through in life. But so often, the focus is on the external changes our growing bellies, the endless list of baby essentials, rather than what’s happening inside.
One of the biggest unknowns is who we will become as mothers. Many of us have spent years figuring out who we are as women, but motherhood? That’s a whole new identity, and stepping into it can feel like walking into the unknown. And when something is unknown, it’s easy for fear and self-doubt to creep in.
When we’re uncertain, our minds fill in the blanks, often with worry. We hear stories of difficult births, sleepless nights, and struggles, and suddenly, we start questioning everything. Will I be a good mum? Am I doing this right? What if I don’t feel how I’m supposed to feel? These thoughts can quickly lead to anxiety, stress, or even feelings of isolation.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone. That’s why finding your people, your tribe is so important. Were not meant to go through this journey alone. Before your baby arrives, take time to build your village:
Join a pregnancy or mum-to-be group
Sign up for a birth preparation class
Connect with other expectant and new mums
Talk about your feelings, journal, meditate, or just get outside and walk
At Birth From Within, I’ve created a space where you can do exactly that. A place where you can meet other pregnant or mums, ask questions, share your thoughts, and feel supported as you navigate this huge life shift.
So if you’re feeling a little unsure, if you’re craving connection, or if you just want to meet people who get it, come and join us. Sign up for a class, come to a drop in session, pop into our online group, or just reach out. You don’t have to do this alone. We’re in it together.
